The perimeter has dissolved into cloud apps, mobile devices and partner integrations. Security leaders are shifting from walls to continuous visibility.
A decade ago, enterprise security meant a strong firewall and up-to-date antivirus. Today, users work from anywhere, applications live in multiple clouds, and attackers are organised, patient and well funded.
Visibility first
You cannot protect what you cannot see. The first step for most organisations is a clear inventory of assets, identities and data flows — and continuous monitoring that turns raw logs into actionable alerts.
- Know every asset and who can access it
- Patch systematically, prioritising by exposure
- Monitor continuously and rehearse response
- Train people — they remain the first line of defence
Security is not a product you buy once. It is a discipline you practise every day.
Regulation is raising the bar
Data-protection legislation across East Africa is maturing quickly. Boards now expect clear answers on where data lives, who can reach it, and how quickly a breach would be detected.
